Happy Moonrabbit Day! And what a Happy Moonrabbit Day it is! It's time to virtually party and appreciate any and all Moonrabbits in your life! On this fine Moonrabbit Day (the fifth one, in fact) the blog-related festivities will be split into two posts because despite being Moonrabbit Day-related they're about different things, and you might want to just read the exciting Moonrabbit Day announcement and skip the Moonrabbit Day history lesson. Which is cool... whatever... haha... I have a sinking feeling that I'm going to be typing "Moonrabbit Day" a lot over the next ~hour it takes to write both of these... Anyway let's get started :D Those of you that have been active in the small but flourishing Moonrabbit community since the start or read the title of this article might already know that today is an especially special Moonrabbit Day because... it's the fifth one! That's important, right? You only get Moonrabbit Days like this once every five years so let's take this blog post to recap everything (Moonrabbit-related) that's happened so far! (Not everything that's happened so far that would probably take a really long time.)
On this day 5 years ago... [Wayne's World transition] A youthful ten year old Henry uploaded the Official Moonrabbit website at moonrabbithaven.weebly.com, opening an online window into the Moonrabbit world for all to see! We had a big problem with wannabes trying to imitate our online presence at the time so it was of the utmost importance that everyone knew this website was the real deal. Actually, the Moonrabbit Haven website made its debut on August 26th, 2015 (it's okay, I'm typing this ahead of time because I'll be camping on the 30th so it really was 5 years ago today), to mild critical acclaim, but it was a couple days later, on August 30th, that it raked in over 150 page views (which I could see in Weebly's analytics window on the mobile app that I checked religiously for weeks into September). That was a pretty crazy number and not all of them were me refreshing the home page every time I updated it! Ten year old Henry dubbed August 30th Moonrabbit Day, and the rest is history. That I will now proceed to tell you about! On this day 4 years ago... Alright, Moonrabbit Day 2016 doesn't have much significance in the Moonrabbit world but it was a pretty big day for me, and as Moonrabbitkind's official unelected ambassador I'm up there with the president in terms of political importance (they even let me decide the date of their independence day*) so August 30th 2016 is still an important date. It's when I arrived in Seattle! It marked the end of an epic 6 day cross-country road trip my dad and I embarked on and our first day of roughly 1460 of Not Living In New York! This video and a bunch of Instagram posts are the only proof it ever happened, probably. On this day 3 years ago... Uh... I remember being pretty excited that it was the third Moonrabbit Day but other than that I don't think anything really notable happened. I think this was when the website was getting renovated (for the first time) cause there's a couple Instagram posts of a snazzy Moonrabbit Day countdown clock but I don't think the Moonrabbit Website 2.0 was timed with Moonrabbit Day. Probably. On this day 2 years ago... Okay, I had a couple of off years. Not every Moonrabbit Day is gonna be super fun and crazy. Sometimes nothing happens besides a personal pizza with my name on it. Oh, I saw some normal rabbits as evidenced by this post. (Doesn't count as an Instagram relapse I was just trying to find any posts made on Moonrabbit Day for RESEARCH PURPOSES) On this day 1 year ago... It was the day I left New York (again) after my most recent trip! That was a fun trip. Pretty much the ultimate return to New York trip. The other ones were fun but this one was the longest I'd been back yet and I saw a bunch more people. It was also the first trip I felt OK coming home from. Every time I'd come back since I left felt just like that- coming back home after being away for a year, but in the taxi to the airport when I posted this gem I felt tired and ready. Also #WestCoast #EastCoastIsBad #NewYorkEspecially On this day today... A kinda big announcement is happening! After years of talking about it and like two months of doing solid work on it, I am finally able to reveal... something in the next post! SEE YA -Henry *Moonrabbits were never ruled by a foreign power but August 30th 2015 was the first time in recorded history that they came into contact with another major society so it was worth declaring that they weren't codependent.
